We recognize one of the most important things when looking for a daycare is a provider and space that meets all your child’s and family needs. Whether it’s in-home or a center, daycare isn’t a one size fits all so finding the right fit is just as important, if not the most important!
Our Mission & Vision.
At United Family Childcare, our mission is to provide a holistic, safe, and warm environment for children to enjoy developmentally appropriate play experiences. We value relationship-building, care, and respect for every child and parent that comes through our doors.
The Home Daycare
The current home daycare is based in a multi-unit residential building owned by Xiongmee and her family. All units are occupied by her children and trusted close relatives.
With this, we hope you can appreciate the work Xiongmee does for her childcare and be respectful of the place of residence, as it is also her home.
Hours of Operation
United Family Childcare operates Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The childcare runs a full 12- month cycle between January to December. The provider’s break time often begins during the children’s nap time. Parents are permitted to visit and observe any time during the hours of operation, although we ask parents to be mindful and respectful of the resting/napping times of the children.
Excellent Care
We want to celebrate the multi-faceted and unique personalities of each child that comes through our doors, and therefore tailor our care to the needs of each child.
Family-Oriented
Additionally, our in-home daycare offers a unique approach to care which mirrors a more family-oriented style. Care is provided mainly by the provider and assistance from immediate family members that may play a role in aspects of the childcare.
Exploratory Opportunities
The space allows ample room for every child to explore their fun and unique side whether it’s crawling, building a house, mashing play dough, playing outside– we encourage creativity at every level!
YOUR PROVIDER
Meet Xiongmee.
Pronunciation: Zong-Mee
Born and raised in Laos, Xiongmee immigrated to the United States after the Vietnam War. During her years of transitioning to America, she worked tirelessly to learn English and build a future for her family.
Despite all the odds, Xiongmee persevered and completed her childcare training earning her license in 2001. The childcare has grown from serving one family to now many more families in the Dane County area in the last 25 years. Xiongmee’s kindness, gentle care, and love for families are what makes her a special kind of provider. She creates an environment that feels like a home away from home and meets each child where they are.
Xiongmee and her husband are also proud parents of five children – four who are UWMadison Badger Alums and one who is currently attending UW-Whitewater.
ADMINISTRATIVE & COMMUNICATION ASSISTANT
Meet Maimoua.
Pronunciation: My Moo-wah
After finishing graduate school in California, Maimoua returned home to continue her
career in Higher Education, as well as support Xiongmee’s business. Her role primarily
involves directing communications, arranging meetings, managing supplies, and
preparing memos.
Additionally, she helps facilitate activities to help children cultivate and strengthen their cognitive and social-emotional development skills. One of Maimoua’s favorite parts of the childcare is getting to know every child personally, and seeing them grow into their own person.
Maimoua earned an M.S. in Higher Education Administration from California State
University-Fullerton and a B.S. in Human Development & Family Studies from the
University of Wisconsin-Madison.
